We all packed up and boarded our bus to Landrosi gate- on the eastern side of Kilimanjaro. It was crowded as so many people signed into the national park. Box lunch served as porters weighed in our packs and we gathered our day packs and did our last minute preps... Nerves were high. Finally we headed for the trail head 30 minutes by car. Beautiful drive. And then it happened. We started walking. We were on our way, each step closer to the summit. We saw monkeys walking through the rainforest. We walked for 4+ hrs to Mti Mkubwa Camp aka "Big Tree." When we arrived the porters bursted out in song- so cool. We were tired, but so excited. Set up camp, had soup and a hearty dinner and off to bed- knowing we had an 8 hr day agead of us in the morning.
