Arrived in Moshi late last night, after an approximately 45 min bus ride. Had a Kilimanjaro beer in the hotel bar and hit the hay early at 2am. ( Most stayed up) awoke this morning after Julie made me get up around 8. Today was a leisure day consisting of gear check( I'm underweight!) breakfast, trek mtg and then Julie and I took a little walk. Saw some Maruba Storks, (huge birds) and just a little taste of African culture. Started on diamox again today and feel really light headed from it. Don't know if I will continue it... I really don't like how I feel at the moment.
We have two guys with us from a Portland based film production company that will be filming a documentary of our trek. They are Ben and John and lucky for them they arrived a week ago to do some scenic shots for the documentary including small plane rides over Kilimanjaro. They interviewed me today - I'm seriously amazed to be a part of something so cool. It's exciting to know that I'll have spectacular photos of this journey! What a relief since I couldn't find a battery for my camera in Amsterdam.
Well, a relaxing day and we leave in the morning to The Landrossi Gate to enter the park. I will continue to blog, but don't think I will be able to upload until I'm back next Monday.

Wow. Great pictures Jana. Can't wait until you get back to see more pics. Xo
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the summit. Love the pick of the royal palm, haven't seen one in a while. What is it about birds sitting in trees that defies the laws of physics? I submit no laws are being violated.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo!!! Yay! Can't wait to see and hear everything!!
