A week and counting...

Wow! I can't believe I leave for Africa a week from tomorrow. I haven't had much time to be nervous- have been so busy with life. However, after our team's final conference call last night, it officially hit me today. I have a pit in the bottom of my stomach;I believe it is a combination of every imaginable emotion possible. We worked hard on our fundraising, and incredibly surpassed our $20,000 goal. We are ever so grateful, and I am humbled to be a part of an effort so much bigger than myself.
As far as gear, I think I am prepared. I have all the layers available to keep me warm. My boots are pretty well worn in. I did purchase insoles a week ago, and got my first blister on a New Year's hike. Ut oh. Now, I figure I will just wear my boots 24/7. Time to re-wear them in.
I will write again when I arrive in Amsterdam... we will be there a night before we meet up w/ the team and continue on to Moshi, Tanzania. Our journalist will have a satellite router as we trek Kilimanjaro, so it looks like I will be able to blog daily. I hope so.
Love to all,
Talk soon,
Jana
